New Black Market: Lightbulbs?

Reuters is reporting that California may ban conventional lightbulbs by 2012. I can see it now - a huge black market and smuggling lightbulbs into California.
The “How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act” would ban
incandescent lightbulbs by 2012 in favor of energy-saving compact fluorescent
lightbulbs.
I have only seen a compact fluorescent lightbulb […]

Joe Biden on Obama: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

Joe Biden, in an interview with the New York Observer commented on Barack Obama: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

This will be interesting. If this was a Republican who said this, he would be hung and run out of office. We will […]

I just finished listening to There’s No Such Thing As “Business” Ethics: There’s Only One Rule For Making Decisions by John C. Maxwell. In the book he makes the case that there is no such thing as “business” ethics; there is only ethics. He says that these ethics need to carry into all […]

Update: Democrats Pass Unconstitutional Privilege

As I mentioned in my previous post, the Democrats were trying to pass a bill that allowed representatives of District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa and the Virgin Islands the right to vote. Well, they were able to get it passed. This, however, is unconstitutional. The Constitution clearly states in Article I, Section […]

legislation that would make English the nation’s official language in order to
combat what he calls “an unprecedented influx of non-English-speaking
immigrants.”
I […]

“There are hundreds of immigrant families who will have to decide, ‘Do I show up
to work (Friday) and risk being arrested by immigration?’” said Eduardo Pena, a
spokesman for the […]

Minimum Wage

I have been in a bit of debate of the problems with raising the minimum wage and government dictating wages over at www.knoxviews.com. So I wanted to post my feelings and some of my comments here on why I think raising the minimum wage is bad.1. If you raise the minimum wage, 1 of 3 […]

Book Update: My FBI by Louis Freeh

A couple weeks ago I finished reading My FBI by Louis Freeh. He was the FBI director nominated by Clinton. He talked about his home life during his time as FBI director, taking on organized crime, and taking on President Clinton. This was a good read; it was not partisan one way […]

North Shore Journal has states from the actual State of the Union under the last 3 2-term Presidents. It is a good comparison. Some good, some bad for all. Check it out.
