Amnesty Bill Defeated!!

Today was a victory for the anti-amnesty folks! The Senate was unable to obtain the 60 votes they needed for cloture on the bill. The final tally was 46 YEAS, 53 NAYS. Michelle Malkin has the tally:

At least these 53 were in touch with the American people. Only our great Senators can turn a [...]

My Poker Table

Over the last couple of weeks, I have been working on a poker table with the help of the fine folks over at http://www.homepokertourney.com/ and www.scottkeen.com/forum. Here are some pics (click on thumbnail for the large image):
This table is VERY solid (and VERY heavy). However, it played wonderfully [...]

Amnesty Bill on the Rocks

The Amnesty Bill is on the rocks for a 10:30 cloture vote this morning. Michelle Malkin has a good round-up. Also here is an excerpt from The Washington Times:

The Senate immigration bill lost supporters yesterday and hangs on by a thread heading into this morning’s showdown vote, after lawmakers voted down amendments making illegal aliens [...]

Carved Marine Boot

The Knoxville News Sentinel ran an article yesterday about a boot made out of carved wood. It is almost an exact replica of a Marine’s boot that saw Iraq combat daily for 7 months. I happen to know the father of this Marine. Check it out. It is very cool. (Picture copyright Joe Howell, [...]

Death Penalty Deters Crime

• Each execution deters an average of 18 murders, according to a 2003 nationwide study by professors at Emory University. (Other studies have estimated the deterred murders [...]

How the Immigration Bill Died

Right Wing News has an excellent post about how the Amnesty Immigration Bill died yesterday.

After the 2nd cloture vote failure at noon on Thursday, Harry Reid could not get unanimous consent to call up amendments to the bill because Jim DeMint refused to give his consent. This was extremely problematic for Reid because he wanted [...]

Immigration Bill

If this immigration bill is passed, I do not think the GOP will survive the fallout from it. I think the Republican Party will be hurt at least until 2010, if not longer. Look at what we are seeing so far.

Faced with an estimated 40 percent fall-off in small-donor contributions and [...]

Mr. Bush, Put Up That Wall

Terry Frank has posted an article a friend of her’s, Dennis Powers, has written. Here is a small excerpt.

“Mr. Bush, Put Up That Wall”
Americans loved Reagan’s famous Berlin speech admonishing Russian President Gorbachev to tear down the wall that separated the city and also the metaphorical wall of Communism that separated peoples and nations. [...]

Iran Caught Red Handed

According to an ABC News article:

NATO officials say they have caught Iran red-handed, shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against NATO forces, in what the officials say is a dramatic escalation of Iran’s proxy war against the United States and Great Britain.
“It is inconceivable that it is [...]
