Semi-Live Blogging the Symphony
As mentioned earlier, my wife and I are attending the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra tonight as their guests. It is intermission, and so far it has been outstanding.
Jeffrey Biegel is the guest pianist who played a concerto which was written for him. It was Concerto No. 3 for Piano and Orchestra. He easily played every key on the piano. I couldn’t play the wrong notes as fast as he played the right ones.
One note about the piano. I wondered where it was we I arrived. After the National Anthem and the first number, they lowered the front of the stage. Below “ground” they wheeled the piano onto the stage and raised it again.
I looked forward to the second half of the show when they are playing Copland and Gershwin.

Thanks, Craig! (My son’s name is also Craig–good choice!) The city of Knoxville is indeed quite fortunate to have a world-class orchestra, an undeniably masterful conductor and one of the most impressive and beautiful theaters I have been in. I have performed in Knoxville several times, and I must say that this time, I felt as though everything was in perfect synch–which is due to the incredible staff of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and the dedicated poeple who volunteer and those who support the existence of the orchestra. It makes my visit all the more enjoyable!
