Tancredo is Out
Tom Tancredo (R-CO) is going to drop out of the Presidential Race today.
The five-term Colorado congressman planned to make the announcement at a news conference in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday, the person said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak for Mr. Tancredo or his campaign.
The next step for Tancredo is possibly to run for Colorado’s open Senate seat, as he announced he is not seeking a sixth term in the House of Representatives.
This will be interesting. Tancredo, obviously, was very strong on immigration, and in fact this was the only issue in which voters were familiar with him. He did not have a lot of supporters, be we will have to watch what candidate those supporters choose. Which candidate of the major five in the GOP is now considered strongest on immigration?
UPDATE (15:13 EST) – Tancredo is endorsing Mitt Romney.
