Political Meme/Survey

Joe Powell is asking for help on an unscientific survey, so I’ll do what I can.

1 — Do you have a preference for any one candidate in the current race for President of the U.S.? Please give a reason for your choice (or lack of one).

At this point I like Huckabee, but I am still a Thompson supporter as well.  Despite Thompson’s repeated attacks on Huckabee and the generic view of Huckabee’s positions, I think he is a lot more conservative than folks are giving him credit for.  Plus I am a big FairTax supporter.  I do NOT like McCain at all.

2 — The state of Tennessee is one of 24 states holding a primary this year on Feb. 5th. Will you be voting in this primary and do you think it wise to hold that many on the same day? Is it time to end the massive one day primary battles?

Yes, I will be voting in this primary.  I do not think it is wise to hold that many primaries on one day.  It takes away from the primary process of getting to know the candidates through town hall meetings, etc.  Tennessee will be a state that I think will suffer.  I certainly don’t expect many candidates to campain actively here.

3 — How would you describe your views on immigration policies in the U.S.?

We have immigration policies on the books that need to be enforced.  I support immigration if it is done the right way, and I think the United States is in a position with who we accept to immigrate here.  I am not a racist or anything else just because I feel we need to have strict immigration laws in place and support those laws.  I think employers should be punished for knowingly employing illegals, and that will take care of a lot of the issues.  I think immigrants make this country what it is, and those that come here illegally hurt those that follow the laws.

4 — Where do you seek news and information the most and do you talk about the news with those you work with, with friends and with family? The Wall Street Journal and many online sources including Drudge, blogs, etc.

5 — How many hours a day (or week) would you say you spend online and what type of sites do you visit the most?

Too many, but I would say probably 4-5 hours a day.  I visit a lot of blogs, mainly political in nature.  I also use the Internet quite a bit for work, and this would be going to mainly technical sites. 6 — On a scale of one to ten, with one being lowest and ten the highest, what score would you give for the success of your local school system? What score for your local school board?

9.  My school system is Maryville City Schools, and I think they are doing a great job.  I was very well prepared for college, and in fact the English in high school was harder than my college English classes.  For the school board, I would give it a 6.  They do a pretty good job, but they like to get in the way sometimes.

7 — What’s the most recent movie/ TV show/ or book you enjoyed?

I have recently started watching Criminal Minds (within the last year), and I love that show.  Also, I read The Blind Side and enjoyed it thoroughly.

That’s all for now, but I am adding a bonus question if you wish to answer, I would appreciate the input. Ready? BONUS - Say you have a $25 gift coupon from the store Best Buy. What would you purchase with it? (Yes, this means I have such a coupon and I have been utterly unable to make a choice, so how’s about a little help here in how I can use it??)

If you don’t have a good universal remote control, you might look at putting it towards one of those (I have a Logitech Harmony 670, and I love it).  Or use it on a USB drive or SD card.

Thanks for taking the time to consider the questions!

And yeah, a USB drive is tempting. I have been leaning towards just getting a movie on DVD … but I can’t even decide that!

No wonder I have issues deciding which presidential candidate is worth a go, LOL!
