Paying for Votes

I think it is interesting hearing the Democrats talk about their superdelegates possibly being a factor this year.  I don’t understand why they have chosen to have so many, but that is the way they have decided to do things.  The stories are constantly coming out about how Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are wooing these superdelegates.  However, now it appears that both Obama and Clinton are paying these superdelegates via campaign contributions in exchange for their votes.

“While it would be unseemly for the candidates to hand out thousands of dollars to primary voters, or to the delegates pledged to represent the will of those voters, elected officials serving as superdelegates have received about $890,000 from Obama and Clinton in the form of campaign contributions over the last three years,” the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics reported today.

About half the 800 superdelegates — elected officials, party leaders, and others — have committed to either Clinton or Obama, though they can change their minds until the convention.

All I can say is WOW.  This may be who determines the Democratic nominee?

    Hey Craig,

I didn’t realize you blogged. I will check back here often. The shots weren’t too bad. I had to get 3 and my arms a little sore, but it is worth it. I will still be wearing lots of mosquito repellent.
    Blessings,
