Bailout Deal Up for Vote Today

Despite some misleading headlines, the bailout package is NOT a done deal.  Top lawmakers have agreed on the details, but the bill is still up for a vote today.  You can see an article with details at the Wall Street Journal.  Let you Congressmen and Senators know what you think about this bill.  I have [...]

Absurd: PETA is at it again

PETA has written a letter to Ben & Jerry’s asking them to start using human breast milk instead of cow’s milk for their ice cream.
PETA said the health of consumers and cows would benefit from the switch.

…this solution of giving the U.S. Treasury almost unlimited power to buy distressed securities could [...]

Patriotic to Pay More Taxes

Senator Joe Biden, the Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate, said yesterday that it is patriotic to pay more taxes.  He then went on to say:
“We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Biden said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden [...]

Tech Tip: Puppy Linux

If you are looking for a small, straightforward Linux distribution – especially for old hardware – check out Puppy Linux.  There are several small distributions, but this one seems to be very good.  I am using it on an old IBM T22 Thinkpad, which has a 900 MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM.  The [...]
