McCain Against Earmarks, Except…

Senator McCain has been campaigning that he is against earmarks and pork in legislation.  However, from his vote and support on the bailout bill (H.R. 1464), he certainly didn’t have a problem with them.  Here is a list of the pork in this bill:

New Tax earmarks in Bailout bill
- Film and Television Productions (Sec. 502)
- Wooden Arrows designed for use by children (Sec. 503)
- 6 page package of earmarks for litigants in the 1989 Exxon Valdez incident, Alaska (Sec. 504)

Tax earmark “extenders” in the bailout bill.
- Virgin Island and Puerto Rican Rum (Section 308)
- American Samoa (Sec. 309)
- Mine Rescue Teams (Sec. 310)
- Mine Safety Equipment (Sec. 311)
- Domestic Production Activities in Puerto Rico (Sec. 312)
- Indian Tribes (Sec. 314, 315)
- Railroads (Sec. 316)
- Auto Racing Tracks (317)
- District of Columbia  (Sec. 322)
- Wool Research (Sec. 325)

Good job, Senator.  I am glad to see you continually vote exactly opposite of what you say.  Just like on tax cuts, off shore drilling, etc.  Someone please explain to me with facts exactly how this guy is different from Senator Obama.  What McCain is choosing to say while on the campaign trail just won’t cut it.  When I look at his votes, he continually supports big government in all ways.

I agree, both candidates are the same when it comes to the direction of our country. We better wake up and put Libertarians in office. Lets start with Barr/Root It’s time to turn a page in history.

It is time for Libertarians to make a stand for freedom. We have to fight for our government while we still can. As a political artist, I am doing everything I can to spread the word. The first step is to end the 2 party deathgrip on our liberty.
The following is the response I posted on Digg. You can find more of my opinions on my website http://www.machinepolitick.com:
There is no defense for this bill. It is our Representatives’ job to represent us, not their own interests and power. The American people were overwhelmingly opposed to the bill as it was passed. Congress should have compromised their lobbyists, not our future. They should have worked on the bill until it fixed the problem instead of committing us to future taxes in the name of a speedy resolution. Instead, they forced this on us knowing we didn’t want it. It is now our responsibility to vote them out of office.
They will never respect our wishes again if we allow them to get away with this.
McCain is no Maverick or Conservative and never has been. He is a Liberal in sheeps clothing. You are a fool if you think he respects your freedom or personal well-being. It is time to end the reign of the 2 party royalty governing our country.
